Orizonturi Rosii (Red Horizons) is a book written by Ion Mihai Pacepa, a former general of the Romanian Securitate, the secret police of Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. The book was first published in 1987, after Pacepa defected to the United States in 1978. It reveals the inner workings of the Ceausescu regime, its corruption, brutality, and espionage activities.

The book is based on Pacepa's personal recollections and documents that he smuggled out of Romania. It covers the period from 1955 to 1978, when Pacepa was one of the most influential figures in the Securitate, rising from a low-ranking officer to the deputy chief of foreign intelligence. He describes his involvement in various operations, such as assassinating dissidents, spreading disinformation, infiltrating Western governments and media, and supporting terrorist groups. He also exposes the lavish lifestyle and cult of personality of Ceausescu and his wife Elena, who controlled every aspect of Romanian society.

The book caused a sensation when it was published, as it was one of the first accounts of life under Communism in Eastern Europe from an insider's perspective. It also provoked the wrath of Ceausescu, who ordered a series of assassination attempts against Pacepa, none of which succeeded. The book was banned in Romania until 1989, when the Ceausescu regime was overthrown by a popular uprising.

The book has been translated into several languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian. It has also been adapted into a radio drama and a documentary film. The book is available online in PDF format from various sources .
